AUSTRALIAN OPEN OTT INTERFACE
2014

Needed to showcase live tennis matches, interactive ads, scores, player bios, and recording options without breaking immersion.
Problem
Legacy sports app was outdated, hard to navigate, and lacked modern interaction patterns.
Goal: deliver a live-streaming + interactive experience that could scale to other sports (soccer, football, etc.), while keeping engagement seamless.

Validated navigation and interface patterns through A/B testing with researchers.
Built features such as:
Live Scoreboard with serving indicators and instant updates.
Match Detail pages with “Watch Now,” “Record Match,” and Player Bio options.
Navigation (menu, highlight panels) tailored for set-top box UI.
Results
Delivered a consumer-facing live-streaming + interactive experience/live ads that set the foundation for DIRECTV’s sports OTT apps.
Project generated $2M in revenue.
Increased user engagement with continuous browsing of live scores, match details, and player profiles during playback.
Provided a scalable design framework later extended to soccer, football, and other sports.
